Malcolm locks Ethan in the basement after discovering his lycanthropy. He mistreats and studies him for personal reasons, considering him something to be used for gain, and has no regard for his (very human) feelings or suffering.

Vanessa discovers what Malcolm has been up to, and where Ethan has disappeared to, and is determined to not lose Ethan like she lost Mina.
